In 1848 the Sonorian Camp, what Sonora was called back then, was one of the first of the western mining towns of the 1849 Gold Rush. In 1892 the Kincaid Flat Mining Company ran a 3,000 ft. tunnel starting at Sullivan's Bar under Kincaid Flat. Over the years millions of dollars in gold was recovered in the Sonora area.

Sterling Gardens Bed & Breakfast is located on Kincaid Flat, the site of the Kincaid Gold Mine. Various oak and other trees now provide a habitat for numerous birds of an ever changing seasonal variety. The beautiful Country English home and variegated flower gardens compliment the vista of the pond and wooded hills. Click here for a map to Sterling Gardens Bed & Breakfast.
